Social Media Intern

This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our company’s lighting brand, MushLume Lighting, a collection of lighting fixtures grown from mushroom mycelium. This position is flexible, Monday to Friday, and averages 15-20 hours per week. There is also an opportunity for this position to become a full-time role.

Candidates ideally have experience in managing Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok accounts and are interested in working with a small biodesign company wishing to explore inspiring ways to tell their material and product stories.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns

  • Create weekly and monthly editorial calendars to promote company brands on various social media websites

  • Create and distribute content such as blogs, infographics, videos and press releases on social media 

  • Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability

  • Perform social media marketing research

  • Respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms

  • Brainstorm and research ideas for original content

  • Create compelling graphics to share across social channels

  • Write social media captions that speak to the company’s target audience

  • Help create and edit short-form videos

  • Develop new strategies for increasing engagement

  • Assist with photo/video content shoots

  • Ensure brand message is consistent

Position Offerings:

  • Part-time position: 15-20 hrs per week, flexible work hours, $20/hr 

  • Hybrid location: in-studio and/or remote

  • Will work with school to award school credits if applicable

  • One-on-one mentorship with founder 

Education/Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or working towards one) in digital communications or related field such as advertising or journalism

  • 2+ years experience in digital marketing/social media marketing (show us your accounts!)

  • Impeccable oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent internet research skills 

  • Mastery of the major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok 

  • Knowledge of social media analytics software including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics and Instagram Analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance

  • Experience with content management systems, word processor applications and image/video editing software
